Liverpool

Enjoyed my day in Liverpool overall, but the lighting conditions at first where rather poor due to the heavy cloud cover making everything seem grey and dull.

As soon as the sun started to set it broke though giving us some love reflections and colour over the river.

Soon as darkness fell and the city lights came on the city came to life, use of a tripod was mandatory for doing long exposure shots, even I found carrying a heavy tripod about all day was a pain but a lighter tripod would be moved by how strong the wind was.

My original plan was to have large depth of field images of the city but could not find a high enough viewing point and lighting was very poor, soon as the city lights came on I found it easier to see the images before I even took them.

I tried to create strong composition by trying frame nothing but the building and the sky, but being surround by buildings I found this hard to do.

For the night shots I tried to create depth by using a wide angle lens and a long shutter speed to capture the car lights going down the street, this came out with some great results.

Most of my night shots where 40 second exposures at f/11, ISO 100, a tripod was a key part of the final outcome.
